Front splits — assisted flexibility training in Varna

Why we train flexibility

The splits are more than a party trick

To most people, the splits look like a flashy trick — something gymnasts and dancers do on stage. The truth is different: the path there runs through real flexibility in the hip joints, and that brings benefits far beyond the pose itself.

Mobile joints mean an easier stride, less stiffness after a day of sitting, and freer movement in everyday life — bending, squatting, playing with a child on the floor. Working on flexibility also eases the lower back — tight hips and calves are a common hidden cause of lower back pain.

And last but not least — there's something deeply satisfying about watching your body regain mobility you thought was gone for good. Every session brings a small win, and with it your confidence grows — not just on the mat, but off it too.

Flexibility also helps with every other activity you do — from dance and yoga to running and strength training. More mobile joints mean better technique and a lower injury risk everywhere else, not just on the stretching mat.

Honest about timing

How long it takes to get into the splits — the truth

The question "how to do the splits fast" has no honest answer with an exact date. The timeline depends on three things: where you're starting from (how flexible you are right now), your age, and how regularly you train. A woman with an active sports background will progress faster; another who hasn't stretched in years will take longer — and that's completely normal.

That's why we don't make promises like "splits in 30 days". Such promises sell well, but they push people to force tissue that isn't ready yet — and the result is often a strain, an inflamed tendon, or weeks of rest instead of progress. Real progress comes from consistency and proper progression, not a record-breaking timeframe.

With a structured programme and regular sessions, most women feel a noticeable change within a few months — a wider range of motion, less tension, a more confident body. We work slowly, because slow is how you get there safely.

The DIY trap

Why YouTube exercises stop working

Almost every woman who comes to us dreaming of the splits has already tried splits exercises from online videos. And almost always she hits the same plateau — progress in the first few weeks, then it stops. The reason is rarely a lack of effort.

First, real stretching for the splits beyond a certain point requires assisted deep stretching — a gentle, controlled outside force that's hard to safely apply to yourself. Second, the body has a built-in fear reflex: as soon as it senses an unfamiliar range of motion, it unconsciously tenses up to "protect" itself — and without someone guiding you to breathe and relax through it, progress stalls. Third, working alone makes it easy for compensations to creep in — the hips rotate, the knee bends, the back arches — small mistakes that don't just slow the result, they build up injury risk.

That's why regular flexibility exercises at home are a great addition, but rarely enough on their own beyond a certain level. They're excellent maintenance between sessions, but they don't replace focused work with a trainer — just as a yoga pose video doesn't replace a real teacher who sees and corrects your body in real time.

What our splits programme looks like

With Elina Kirilova at MGA Palace, 60 Vasil Levski Blvd, every splits programme starts with a real assessment of your body — not a ready-made template. Classes are women only, in a calm, intimate setting, and you can even come with a baby or child — we know finding time for yourself isn't always easy.

It's never too late

For beginners and the "stiffest" — our most rewarding cases

If you're worried you're too "stiff" or that the splits aren't for you — the opposite is true. Splits for beginners is one of our most common programmes, and the most rewarding results come from exactly the women who've never touched their toes, let alone the splits.

Most of us come after years of desk work — tight hips from hours at a desk, a stiff lower back, legs that seem to never bend all the way. It's exactly from this starting point that some of the most impressive results begin, because early progress is the most visible and the most motivating.

No prior sports background is needed, no youth is needed — all you need is the will to start and a little patience. Every session is tailored to your body here and now, with no comparison to anyone else in the room.

The first step is the most important one. Book a free consultation with a flexibility assessment and find out honestly where you're starting from and what a realistic path forward looks like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Splits FAQ

How long does it take to get into the splits?

It depends on your starting point, age, and consistency. With regular assisted sessions, most women see real progress within a few months — we work slowly and safely, without forcing anything and without promising an exact date.

Am I too stiff or too old for this?

No. Our most rewarding results come from exactly the stiffest women — those who have never stretched before. Flexibility can be trained at any age, step by step, tailored to your body.

Are the splits dangerous?

Forced without preparation — yes, there's a risk of strains and joint overload. Achieved gradually, with assessment, assisted stretching, and proper progression, it's safe and beneficial for your joints and back.

What should I do at home between sessions?

We give you a short individual programme of supportive flexibility exercises between sessions — gentle, pain-free, matched to your progress in the studio.

Is the front or side splits easier?

The front splits are usually achieved faster, since they use a range of motion the body is more familiar with. The side (middle) splits require more work on the hip joints and usually take longer.
